Nature Pix

An exhibition about computation, code, and nature

Pixelated expressions from the living world are voiced through a series of minimalist artworks, including algorithmic drawings and digital sculptures. Live sensor data transmitted from nearby-nature offers viewers a matrix of sensations, as qualia voiced a series of bespoke sculptural forms. The exhibit uses a grid-like motif as a juxtaposition to the natural world; also in reference to code and computation. Through a series of artistic transformations, the encoded data transcends the media through emergent phenomena.

Exhibit Statement

Nature, with its enigmatic beauty, is unveiled through our senses as particles gracefully intertwine across the vast universe. Our perception of nature is shaped by the ethereal essence of qualia, the subjective facets of our experiences. The human experience, an amalgamation of nature and technology, is enriched by our cultural perspectives, aiding us in comprehending its intricacies. From the very roots of nature, we have evolved, birthing groundbreaking inventions that resonate with the purest abstractions of the natural world, such as the computer.

My passion lies in the delicate interplay between nature, art, and computation. As an artist and engineer, I strive to forge connections between people and nature through immersive and interactive experiences.

We can’t impose our will on a system. We can listen to what the system tells us, and discover how its properties and our values can work together to bring forth something much better than could ever be produced by our will alone.
